με προσκεκλημένη την Prof. Dr. Ursula Georgy, από το Πανεπιστήμιο Εφαρμοσμένων Επιστημών της Κολωνίας στη Γερμανία.
«Service innovation has become a necessary choice and management technique in service industries. Services now are making up more than 70% of the GDP in countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The main focus of service innovation is the understanding of customer needs and wants (expressed or non-expressed). Therefore libraries have to build up and implement an innovative culture.Libraries are part of the service “industry” and have to implement new technologies and services to improve satisfaction to their users and customers. The primary goal of encouraging innovation within a library is to develop and deliver new and attractive products and services to meet a wide range of customer needs and expectations and, thus, continually sharpen library´s competitive edge. The topic innovation management gained sufficient attention only since about five years in libraries. Only a few libraries are active in strategic way of innovation management.
Modern innovation management requires integrated structures. Social community network structures can promote innovation management in the sense of open innovation. Also by cooperation it will be able to develop suitable innovations for the customer in future. Otherwise one will run the risk developing innovations not wanted by the customers. Next to once, it is particularly necessary to do everything for a systematic innovation management to refer among others to responsibilities, know-how and concepts.» Prof. Dr. Ursula Georgy
